We love ideals. We love our concept or notion of who people are.
We express our love to that ideal. And then, often, we hope and expect the other to fulfill that ideal. Of one who cares... of one who appreciates us... of one who understands us... and behaves as we want...
When the other matches that ideal, we have the feeling - of love.
When the other does not meet our expectations - we feel betrayed.
Unrequited love often turns to hate.
People despise... even 'kill' the one they were starry eyed about just a little while back.
Unrequited love sometimes turns to despair.
People commit 'suicide'... because their expectations were not met. And they feel unworthy.
Parents shower 'love' and feel hurt when it is not returned in full measure. Or when the children do not follow all the rules that are just meant for their own good.
Kids usually want to break free of this 'bondage' of love.
Love - it is such a wonder !
How commonly talked about! How commonly expressed!
It is the pivot, the central theme of most movies, most dramas, most lives...
And yet... is love just a feeling?
Could it be that... love as a feeling... is one grand addiction?
There are many drugs to get that feeling on the quick.
Infatuation, attachment, lust, desire, possessiveness...
Cheap and quick ways of getting the feeling.
So cheap that these days people make love when they don't have any...
The challenge is - it doesn't last. And then there are withdrawal symptoms.
Love as a feeling also comes as a result of love as an expression of one's true nature.
Of being aware of one's own greatness and that of the other.
Love - not dependent on events or behaviour.
But Love - unconditional and forever.
Love - not in a limited sense of give and take.
But Love - as a natural quality of the self.
And that is why people turn to God. Again and again, after looking here and there and not finding true love, they seek God... for deep within themselves they know... there was a time when they have had the experience of true love.
It is that love that we seek. That true unconditional love that had come from a souce that is pure and pristine. A source that is self aware and knows our beauty and does not judge our actions...
That beautiful source of unconditional love - God.
Everyone has tasted that pure love from God. And it is that love that we have been seeking in others. That ideal love. Love that always fulfills. Love that never betrays. Love that is everlasting.
God loves us unconditionally, by seeing our true and eternal greatness, and seeing through the disguise of our current shortcomings...
The expression of true love, brings the experience and the feelings of true love.
It is independent and unconditional.
Follow the Father.
Hmmm.
