Brainwashing ... and other things

One washes something to make it pure. In that sense, brainwashing is the process of washing off all impurities present in the brain. At best, what this would imply is that all past memories, all symbols of attachment to this old world, will be erased and a sense of detachment, a new life would take birth. For this, the washing detergent should be powerful and the brain should be scrubbed well to generate good lather. That is to say, the points of Divine knowledge used for cleansing should be used plentifully and churned well. Then with the water of clear thought at the high pressure of determined action, cleanse each part of the brain. Let a clear stream of powerful thoughts run through, so that any remaining traces of dirty thoughts get washed off. Open the bottom tap of the brain before God, so that all these thoughts - good and bad, of old, are removed fully. Wipe the brain with the dry absorbent cloth of God's love. Now close the leakage points fill the brain with showers of God's knowledge, love and every imaginable treasure - joy, delight, peace ...

Here! A fresh, fully washed brain, ready for efficient service!

Brain washing , however, is only a small step. The user of the brain, i.e., the soul has over the years, become a dirty fellow. The tendencies are all in the wrong direction. The mind likes to dwell in its erstwhile addictive states. It exhibits withdrawal symptoms. If left to its own, the newly washed brain will soon be dirtied to an even worse condition by the mind. This is because the so called controller - intellect has become weak and ineffective. Thus, the three faculties of the soul - mind, intellect and tendencies... are all in a bad shape!

So to really take care of the problem, brain washing is clearly not enough. The soul needs to cleanse itself by remembering God constantly (The one and only soul cleansing solution!). When it is thus busy enjoying the delights of divine life, the cheaper intoxicants ( naturally, harmful in the long run!) called lust. anger, greed, attachment, pride and so on, are forgotten. This is a long term solution. It takes time to cleanse the soul fully. Now and then, a really nasty piece of dirt is torn off , leaving the soul shocked at its own stage. It is at such a juncture that care is required. One should not get exhausted and disheartened seeing the tons of dirt flowing off. If the cleansing process is stopped midway, its a dreadful mess not fit to be seen by any! So clean on Lionheartedly! A totally clean soul is like a well tuned instrument, being played by that maestro - God. It will be half the world's life cycle before it begins to run out of tune again. That is to say, starts to get dirty once again!
